Fiendish Flick Fix: What to Watch for 2011 & 2012
I like to have my movies listed so I don't forget when they come out.
Of course more will be added to this list, but I was astonished by how many books to screen, especially in the YA genre are going to be coming out in 2012 and 2013.
Of course its a given like The Hunger Games and City of Bones being optioned for film (both of these series are amazing!)
But other prominent releases like Divergent by Veronica Roth, Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion, This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and Tempest by Julie Cross (a new young adult series about a time traveling protag) are going to be hitting screens as well. Hopefully they will be executed better than I Am Number Four.
As always I am a sucker for cheesy sci-fi as well as a great alien flick. Others that instantly had me intrigued were Apollo 18 (of which the trailer rocked), Immortals, and Super 8. And yesssss finally an Underworld 4 is coming out!
I'm not too pleased about a remaking of The Thing, why mess with perfection? But I am fairly open-minded and am interested in seeing how studios/writers manage to make this gem "better".
I've linked to info/trailers where available :)
MIGHTNIGHT IN PARIS (MAY 2011) Charming, yet a bit far fetched.
CAPTAIN AMERICA (JULY 2011) Was actually pretty good, though hated the ending
COWBOYS AND ALIENS (JULY 2011) More of a backstory needed. Blah!
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS (JULY 2011)-So incredibly epic it has rivaled my deep-seated loyalty to Star Wars...
ANOTHER EARTH (JULY 2011)-My favorite movie the year. Amazing, mesmerizing. Loved it! Needs a sequel!
TRANSFORMERS-DARK OF THE MOON (JULY 2011)-
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (AUG 2011)-Provocative and disturbing. Definitely want to see the sequel!
TERRA NOVA -FOX TELEVISION (SEPT 2011)-Love this show, hope it lasts.
GRIMM (NBC TELEVISION 2011) Hmm a bit lit Evie in Paranormalcy...
ALCATRAZ (FOX TELEVISION 2011)
MELANCHOLIA (2011) I saw Melancholia and Another Earth in one weekend. I could not pull myself away from the screen during Melancholia and the performance of Kristen Dunst is worth seeing. Especially the entire debacle of the wedding!
THE WOMAN (AUGUST 2011) Harrowing and strange. Enough to make me pick up Ketchum's book in order to get to the real story. Screenplay seems like an abbreviated version.
CONTAGION (OCT 2011)- A real disappointment, extremely clinical, like watching a documentary.
THE THING (OCT 2011)-Was really surprised this prequel was so good. Going to get it on DVD. Loved it!
BREAKING DAWN (NOV 2011)-Yup, what can I say? Bella's gonna be a vamp. Loved it!
